One record for every lot: weighed, graded, auctioned, paid.

Lingsaa Tobacco is the system a Tobacco Board runs its auction platforms on. The weighbridge, the grader, the auction officer, the farmer and the buyer all work on the same lot, and the settlement is worked out once, to the paisa.

Head office, regions, districts and yards on one office tree. Farmers and buyers on their phones.

Before the yard · a simulationFlue-cured Virginia · typical schedule

The curing barn decides the colour.

A week before a lot reaches the platform, the farmer cures it in a brick barn like this one in Prakasam: about 140 hours of fire and ventilators, read off a dry bulb and a wet bulb. Run the schedule right and the leaf comes out orange. Hurry it, or keep the ventilators shut, and the same leaf is graded green or mahogany, at a lower reserve.

Yellowed fully at 35–38 °C, then fixed and dried on time. A little browning in the fixing turns the lemon to orange: the leaf the demo lot carries to the yard.

Grading & pricing17 auctioned grades · FCV

The price starts from the grade.

A grade code reads like a catalogue line: stalk position, quality, colour. L2O is lower leaf, second quality, orange. The grader's grade sets the lot's reserve price, and no bid may go below it.

What the photo shows

Orange cured leaf

The colour flue-curing aims for; the last letter is O. Seven grades carry it, from first-quality cutters down to tips. The demo lot's L2O is one of them.

O grades · 7₹220.00–₹318.00 /kg

Stalk position and quality need the grader. In the app the grader photographs a hand of leaves and the grading assistant (Claude) suggests the full grade; the grader confirms.

Read by eye from the photo's colour, not by the assistant: no assistant answer is recorded for this photo yet.

One lot, one morning.

Lot 14 comes in to Ongole-I on a tractor trolley. Follow it through the gate check, onto the weighbridge and into the grader's hands, on real photographs from the tobacco districts and other yards, with the instruments' readings drawn live on top. The figures are the ones the rest of this page uses: 548.90 kg gross, 512.40 kg net, grade L2O at ₹255.00 a kilo.

The settlement, to the paisa.

The money is worked out in one place on the server, in whole paise, rounded once — the way a cashier rounds, so the printed invoice agrees with the ledger. This calculator does the same sums. It starts from lot 14 at ₹266.00 a kilo; after the hammer on the auction floor above, “Work out the settlement for this lot” brings that price here.

A deduction the officer recovers before paying the farmer. The buyer's side doesn't change.

Who sees what

Every record hangs off an office. A login reaches its own office and everything under it; farmers and buyers see only their own.

A login posted at Prakasam reaches 5 of 12 yards and everything recorded at them. Nothing outside.

Tap an office to post a login there. Office names from the demo department.

Data & integrationsPrivacy, KYC, maps

Identity checks, maps, and what is kept.

A Tobacco Board holds farmers' identity and bank details and moves crores in a season. The rules below are in the code, not in a policy document.

Integrations

Identity — Sandbox.co.in
Aadhaar e-KYC by OTP, PAN, GSTIN, and bank account by penny-drop — live once the department's keys are set. Without keys the offline checks run: Verhoeff for Aadhaar, the GSTIN check character, the IFSC pattern. A paid call is made only when an officer presses Verify.
Maps — Mappls
A farm, yard or office is named from a map pin or the phone's GPS. Transport trips get road distance and a route line. The keys never reach the browser.
Still sandbox
Payment gateway, GST suvidha provider, e-Sign and SMS run as adapters that record and simulate, until the department picks its providers.

Data handling

Aadhaar
Never stored in full: the last four digits and a keyed fingerprint, so the same number can't register twice. Shown as XXXX XXXX 1234. Never written to a log.
Bank accounts
Account numbers are stored sealed (encrypted).
Audit
Every change to a record is audited: who, what, when. The integrations log keeps no Aadhaar, PAN, account number, OTP or name.
Access
Farmers and buyers see only their own records. Staff see only the offices their posting reaches.
Verify page
Public and sign-in free. It records nothing about the person checking, and shows names masked.
Hosting
A MeitY-empanelled cloud or the State Data Centre, as the department decides — as set out in the development report.
